Our Staff
At a young age, Arica realized that awareness of and connection to the physical body can be a gateway to emotional and spiritual well-being. As a result, she has studied movement and healing in various forms for 20 years.
Arica holds a B.A. in dance education, is a nationally certified massage therapist, and has taught yoga and Pilates since 1998. She is currently pursuing Anusara Yoga teacher certification.
Her classes emphasize optimal alignment, balanced action, heart opening philosophy, and connection to a larger spirit that unites and flows through all of us.
Lena is a 2002 graduate of the University of Vermont’s physical therapy program. She enjoys working with all age populations and settings, from inpatient rehabilitation to outpatient physical therapy.
Lena achieved her Pilates certification in October 2006 through Polestar Pilates rehabilitation curriculum. She enjoys incorporating Pilates principles of movement into her treatment, along with her knowledge of anatomy, kinesiology, and biomechanics into her classes.
Lena believes strongly in efficiency of movement as a key to “reforming” the body.
Laura Savard graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City and is a certified holistic health counselor focusing on whole foods nutrition. Laura deeply believes that health involves discovering what nourishes us physically, emotionally, and spiritually. She also holds a bachelor of arts from Wheaton College (MA) in environmental psychology.
Theresa has been an integral member of our staff since 2004. A native of lake placid, New York, Theresa, her husband Tom, and their dog Belle moved to Vermont in 1999 where she maintains an active lifestyle of walking, boating, skiing, Pilates and yoga. With a degree in business and over 20 years of business experience, Theresa assists with the front desk operations at all wellness. She finds Pilates to be challenging as well as inspirational in ways she has not experienced in other exercise regimens.
Alison is a 1985 graduate of northwestern university’s physical therapy program. She began practicing in Chicago, Boston, and St. Louis, focusing on pediatrics. After having two beautiful children, she became an at-home mom for ten years. During this time she discovered Pilates. The changes in her body and spirit inspired her to complete the Polestar instructor training so she could share this amazing discipline with others. Her favorite aspect of Pilates is that it’s truly beneficial movement for a lifetime.
Lynne is certified in the Pilates method of body conditioning by the Pilates Studio, New York City, and trained by master teachers Romana Kryzanowska and Bob Liekens.
Lynne is a former professional dancer with many years experience teaching modern dance technique and classical ballet. She is delighted to offer Pilates training as the perfect synthesis of movement and body conditioning.
Katie received her masters in physical therapy from Quinnipiac University in 2005. She moved to Vermont soon after graduation and quickly fell in love with Burlington. In 2006, she was introduced to Pilates and quickly added it to her regimen of running, skiing, and strength training.
Katie completed the rehab curriculum through Polestar Pilates in April 2008 and has enjoyed incorporating the principles of Pilates into her patient treatment.
She enjoys working with a wide variety of patients ranging from those with sports injuries, to chronic pain, as well as the geriatric population. katie is a firm believer that anyone can benefit from Pilates by creating awareness and a better understanding of the “mind body” connection.
